Ingredients
- 2 packets rapid rise yeast
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 6 cups flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp. cold water
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in 2 cups warm water. Add sugar. Mix well.
- In a mixer, add flour, salt, and olive oil. Add yeast mixture and mix for 5 minutes.
- Place dough in lightly oiled, large bowl and cover with a warm, wet, towel. Let dough rise for 1 hour.
- Place dough on lightly floured surface and punch down. Form into desired size loafs.
- Place on parchment covered sheet tray. Cover dough with warm, wet towel and let rise a second time for 1 hour.
- Slit top of loafs 1/2" deep complete length of bread.
- Mix beaten egg with water and brush loafs completely.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- Place in oven and bake for 20-25 mins and golden brown
- Remove from oven and place on cooling rack and let cool for 25 mins before cutting
