Split Pea Soup with Ham

Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried green split peas (2 cups)

  • 8 cups hot water

  • 1 ham bone with meat

  • 1 cup additional fully cooked ham

  • 2 cups sliced carrots

  • 1 cup chopped celery

  • 1 cup chopped onion

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1 t salt, optional

  • 1/2 t garlic powder

  • 1/2 t pepper

  • 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley

Directions

  • In crock pot add all ingredients except carrots and celery. Set to “High” setting and cook for 3 hours.
  • Add carrots and celery and cook 1 additional hour.
