Split Pea Soup with Ham

Ingredients
  1. 1 pound dried green split peas (2 cups)
  2. 6 cups water
  3. 1 ham bone with meat
  4. 1 cup additional fully cooked ham
  5. 2 cups sliced carrots
  6. 1 cup chopped celery
  7. 1 cup chopped onion
  8. 2 bay leaves
  9. 1 t salt, optional
  10. 1/2 t garlic powder
  11. 1/2 t pepper
  12. 1/4 cup minced fresh parsley
Instructions
  1. In crock pot add all ingredients except carrots and celery. Set to "High" setting and cook for 3 hours.
  2. Add carrots and celery and cook 1 additional hour.
