Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup + 3 1/2 tablespoons butter, softened (divided for different uses)

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon cinnamon (divided for different uses)

  • 8 slices thick, soft bread

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/4 cup sugar (for assembly)

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, room temperature

  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Directions

  • Cinnamon Butter
  • Mix 1/2 cup softened butter, brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon cinnamon.
  • Bread
  • Remove crusts, roll slices flat, and spread with cinnamon butter. Roll tightly.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla. Dip each bread roll quickly, ensuring they are fully coated. Fry in remaining butter until golden all around.
  • Mix sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Roll the cooked bread in this sugar mixture.
  • Icing
  • Blend softened butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth, using as a drizzle or dip.
