Growing up in Pennsylvania, I never knew what guacamole was until I moved to southern California when I was 19.  I’ve tried many variations but this is the one I like the best. Having a neighbor with an avocado tree doesn’t hurt either.

Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe avocados

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup chopped tomato

  • 1 T. lime juice

  • 1 t salt (add more or less depending on your taste)

  • 1 jalapeño pepper, finely chopped

  • 1 T chopped cilantro

Directions

  • Purchase avocados at the store or borrow from your neighbor’s tree.
  • Slice avocados in half, remove pits, using a large spoon, scrape avocado out of skin.
  • Put avocado halves in mixing bowl. Mash until minimal small chunks are seen.
  • Add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
  • Serve with chips, or any Mexican meal.
